I had my car Mapped by Mobile ECU Tuning as a very first car for testing the quality of the maps i will be providing. I initially had the car sitting as standard and decided to hardware remove the DPF and EGR functions to see how the car felt. I noticed a dramatic difference in how smooth the car was running, also, for the first time sinse owning the car i was able to drive in fourth gear at the speed linit on built up areas, ( as we all know thats 30mph). To be completely straight, the car was a dream to drive.
After letting the car settle for a few days i then modified the map on the car itself to a good safe level mainly to have some more power from her. I had no intension to push the car to its limit, thats not the best solution for an every day car or for my pocket.
The map has now been on for a number of weeks now and it has completely changed my view that the 520d is not the car to buy, as some of us get older its nice to have a bit more oonph when its needed and all i can say about that is i definitely have that.
All in all, the car now runs great, it has excellent power and smoothness through the gears when needed, and i am delighted with it.
I have decided to keep the old dog for the foreseeable future.
